Autumn Job Fair on November 1st
The Providence Housing Authority (PHA) will host an Autumn Job Fair on Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 4:30 to 6:30 pm at 40 Laurel Hill Avenue in Providence. If you are interested in employment opportunities, the Fair will provide you with a chance to meet a variety of employers currently hiring for full, part-time, and seasonal positions.
The Autumn Job Fair will host about a dozen employers and is open to both PHA and non-PHA residents. The format will allow for time to meet and greet with employers of interest in a personal setting. Some will be conducting preliminary job interviews on site throughout the Fair.
The PHA’s Autumn Job Fair was generously supported by Jobs Plus Providence, the United Way of Rhode Island, and LISC Financial Opportunity Center.
Job Seekers Come Prepared
Resume: Bring copies of your resume with you to leave with employers that you are interested in working with so they can review and follow up after the Job Fair. If you do not have a resume or need to update the one you have, contact Jennifer Ortega Perez at (401) 709-2210.
Attire: We suggest wearing business casual attire and that you have a positive and determined attitude ready to charm our employer partners. If you are a part of any of the Providence Housing Authority’s Workforce Development Programs, such as the Adult Education and Training, Jobs Plus Providence , or the Financial Opportunity Center and are in need of appropriate clothing you can take advantage of our Workforce Success Closet. It has a variety of professional clothing, shoes, and accessories for men and women. Contact your program representative directly or call Resident Services at (401) 751-6400 to schedule an appointment
Prepare Ahead: The Autumn Job Fair features several employers, and we expect between 40-60 job seekers to attend. It can be overwhelming and there can be competition for the attention of high demand employers. We recommend that you review our employer partners prior to attending so you have an idea of what questions you would like to ask, skills or traits you would like to highlight, and which employers to prioritize. Get to your priority employers first and then take a chance and venture into a new field or company – you never know where that openness may take you.
Children: Unfortunately, we are unable to offer child care services for this event. Please plan accordingly and arrange for childcare prior to arriving.
Open to the Public
You do not have to be a Providence Housing resident to attend and benefit from the Autumn Job Fair. Registration is not necessary. Join us and bring a friend!
