In 1987, the Providence Housing Authority (PHA) received $14.4 million dollars in grant funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development to build new Scattered Sites homes throughout the city in order to address the growing housing needs within Providence. By 1997, the construction of 244 homes was complete. The Scattered Sites homes consist of three, four and five bedroom units, either single or duplex. The PHA provides residents with management services, maintenance and access to the programs offered by the Resident Services Department.
