What Is Fraud?
Fraud involves the intentional misrepresentation or concealment of facts in order to unlawfully obtain housing assistance or benefits. It compromises the integrity of housing programs and diverts critical resources away from individuals and families who truly need them.
Examples of Fraud and Program Violations
Fraud and violations of program rules can be committed by residents, applicants, landlords, or vendors. Common examples include:
- Failing to report income or all sources of income
- Subletting a subsidized unit
- Receiving housing assistance from multiple agencies at the same time
- Allowing individuals not listed on the lease to reside in the unit
- Engaging in criminal activity on or near housing property
How to Report Fraud
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
This Fraud Report Form is ONLY for reporting suspected fraud involving Providence Housing Authority (PHA) tenants, landlords, or applicants. Reports involving other organizations cannot be processed through this form.
